The government’s subsidy program, which aims to boost investments in East and Southeast Turkey found severe reflection in Şanlıurfa. Turkey’s first Garment Industrial Park is rapidly being built in Şanlıurfa nowadays. The project is expected to activate the region significantly and employ 8000 workers.

Istanbul Ready-Made Garment Exporters’ Association (IHKIB) President Hikmet Tanrıverdi and Board Members held a visit to Şanlıurfa and revealed their plan to boost investments in the region. Saying that they offer employment opportunity to 2500 youngsters in the city, Tanrıverdi noted, “We are willing to make Şanlıurfa a textile hub. We want to thank the governor who offered his support for the project.” He continued, “We have employed 2500 staff so far within our Garment Industrial Park Project. This number will be up to or above 8000 once the project is completed. We plan to make Şanlıurfa the center of garment industry in a short period and materialize further projects here to create more employment opportunities in the years to come.”

Hosting IHKIB committee at his office, Şanlıurfa Governor Güngör Azim Tuna pointed to the potential of the city. He said they will help investors as they aim to contribute to Turkey’s manufacturing.

The groundbreaking of Şanlıurfa Garment Industrial Hub took place in May 2015 as a project on 350 lap area for 19 facilities at first phase. Within the new subsidy system, Şanlıurfa receives the following investment subsidies as a part of 6th region: Customs duty exemption, VAT exemption, lower taxes, employer’s national insurance contribution, income tax withholding support, insurance premium support, interest support and investment area allowance.
