Turkey ranked as the 4th among medium income countries in innovation index, while it was the 42nd in overall counting.

Turkey, which had been the 58th in the Global Innovation Index last year, rose to the 42nd place with 39.03 points, a jump of 16 digits. The 9th edition of Annual Global Innovation Index report was published as the result of a collaboration between Cornell University, INSEAD, and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). According to the index, Switzerland was the most innovation nation of the world with 66.28 points, which was followed Sweden, the UK and the US.

The report examines innovation activities of the countries in a multi-dimensional while the 2016 edition has the theme “Global innovation as a win-win proposition”. The report aims for long term growth of countries, encouraging their manufacturing operations and developing their business, while 128 countries were held under the microscope. The countries are evaluated in terms of their foundations and establishments, human resources and searches, infrastructures, writer developments and business developments.

Turkey ranked as the 4th among medium income countries in innovation index. The top rank belongs to China which is among the 24 most innovative countries. China is followed by Bulgaria, the UAE and Turkey. Turkey takes place within North Africa and West Asia in this course. In terms of this region, Turkey ranks as the 4th most innovative nation. The top three countries are Israel, South Cyprus and the UAE.

According to the sub titles of the 7 main indicators of the index, Turkey’s status appears as following: It ranks as the 16th in human resource and search higher education records, 12th in business development, trade-competition-market scale, 9th in information and technology output spending in computer software share in GDP, 5th in innovation output intangible assets and 14th in the share of innovative goods exports in total trade.

Turkey ranks as the 42nd among 128 countries in general, while it is 88th in “political environment” indicator and 96th in regulating environment.
