“The future of fashion and our planet is vegan”

Working with the United Nations for sustainable fashion, Stella McCartney underlined that everyone, especially the leaders, should take responsibility for this issue. Announcing the sustainability efforts of important suppliers such as SÖKTAŞ, Evrnu and Bolt Threads, McCartney pointed out that fashion companies not just consist of themselves, but are responsible for the entire supply chain as a whole. McCartney commented on the sustainable future as follows:

“This is the Decisive Decade and if we do not act decisively, we know the consequences. A football pitch is disappearing from the Amazon every minute and 80 percent of that area is being used for animal agriculture. The future of fashion and our planet is vegan”.

Among the materials exhibited by the famous fashion designer Stella McCartney in the foyer of the meeting, Bolt Threads’ pieces made of mycelium (a part of the fungus), the world’s first vegan boots created in collaboration with Paul Pogba and Adidas, regenerative cotton of SÖKTAŞ, and Evrnu NuCycl and Econyl regenerated nylon sourced from post-consumer waste and ocean plastics.
