Saf Group brands Saf Mensucat and HRN, which produce yarn, use Trützschler’s state-of-the-art machines and new SUPERTIP wires for carding, increasing the lifetime of wires while reducing maintenance needs. Saf Mensucat and HRN Technical Manager Kazım Vurur, sharing his first-hand experience of using these innovative wires in card applications at their company’s site in Kahramanmaraş, Türkiye, explained the advantages they have achieved and its effects on production processes.
Saf Group, established in 1994, operates in the steel industry with its Saf-Lon and Saf-Ten brands, as well as serving as a yarn manufacturer in the textile industry. Saf Group’s ‘Saf Mensucat’ business employs 260 people and produces 70 tons of weaving and knitwear yarns from Ne 4/1 to Ne 40/1 each day. Saf Group also introduced HRN during the pandemic, which produces 45 tons of compact ring yarn per day, and achieved a turnover of 110,000,000 dollars in the field of textiles in 2022 with its brands Saf Mensucat and HRN.
“We are producing 45 tons of compact ring yarn per day with 63.360 spindles in our new facility”
Kazım Vurur explains that 60% of their products are used in knitting, 30% in weaving and the remaining %10 in technical textiles like brush cloth, vehicle upholstery and materials for the medical sector. He also discloses that most of their products were exported before the pandemic, and currently, around half of their products are provided to the domestic market and the other half to the export markets. Saying that they carried out the construction, installation and assembly processes of HRN during the pandemic, Vurur states: “At the same time, we continued our production on a full-time basis while taking all necessary precautions. We started our compact ring business, which we planned in line with customer demands – including a preparation group containing 39 TC19i Trützschler cards. Our new facility now produces compact ring yarn in the range of Ne16-Ne80, generating 45 tons per day with 63,360 spindles.”
“The biggest advantage of the X2 SUPERTIP is that it achieves stable performance throughout the life of the wire”
Kazım Vurur says that they use X2 SUPERTIP in Saf Mensucat facility and explained the benefits they have achieved as follows: “The biggest advantage is that it achieves stable performance levels throughout the life of the wire. On top of that, the X2 SUPERTIP has a much longer wire life – about 30 % longer than a NOVOSTAR X1 wire. The X2 SUPERTIP also achieves a wire life expectation of up to 1800 tons, while the NOVOSTAR X1 offers just 1350 tons. In fact, we are now experimenting with 2000 tons on one of our lines. Wire costs are also lower because of the longer service life and reduced maintenance needs.”
Explaining that another big advantage is quality, Vurur states that they see a much smaller quality variation between the cards when using the X2 SUPERTIP wire compared to the NOVOSTAR X1. Vurur, adding that the MAGNOTOP 52 caps they started to use with the X2 SUPERTIP wire offer great benefits in yarn quality, says that a significant improvement of up to 50% in total IPI values has been achieved in all of the Ne ranges they produce and that the improvement is 280%, especially in neps. Vurur concludes: “I think Trützschler Türkiye’s constantly increasing customer-oriented service quality is also generating the success of the X2 SUPERTIP wire. On the occasion of this interview, I would like to thank the entire Trützschler team for supporting us in every way.”
