Kordsa, a subsidiary of Sabancı Holding and reinforcement solutions specialist, received approval from The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) for its sustainability roadmap along with its 2030 targets. In this context, Kordsa will reduce its emissions from production, while increasing the rate of renewable energy use, and thereby reduce its emissions by 46.2 percent until 2030. Established in partnership with CDP, United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF), SBTi aims to mobilize the private sector to lead urgent climate action.
Kordsa will also transform its supply chain ecosystem
In accordance with the targets approved by SBTi, Kordsa will reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 46.2 percent until 2030, taking 2019 as the base year. Taking steps to mobilize the supply chain ecosystem, the company also announced that they have started working on the transition of critical raw material suppliers to a low carbon economy by 2027.
CEO of Kordsa İbrahim Özgür Yıldırım emphasized that the transition from promise to action has played a crucial role in Kordsa’s 50-year success story. Stating that fulfilling the promises made to its stakeholders is an indispensable part of Kordsa’s business culture, Yıldırım continued his words as follows:
“Thanks to the values we have built on this culture, we, like all Sabancı Group companies, see sustainability as an opportunity for the future of our world and humanity. As a requirement of our ‘Reinforcing Life’ mission, we endeavor to demonstrate this approach in all sectors where we operate and to spread our impact power to the entire ecosystem. As an advanced materials company, we strongly believe that our pioneering attitude will contribute to the green transformation of many business fields. SBTi’s endorsement of Kordsa’s goals is the biggest indicator of how strongly our approach is recognized on global platforms. With this approach, we will continue to make our world a more livable place with our responsible governance understanding while developing value-added and sustainable solutions for our customers.”
