Haliç University, one of Türkiye’s most important foundation universities, and HEFA Tekstil, one of Türkiye’s leading textile companies, have signed an exemplary work in university-industry cooperation. Haliç University students will be offered internship opportunities within HEFA Tekstil as part of the cooperation protocol signed between the two institutions. In addition, projects on sustainability and recycling in textile production will be developed under the leadership of Haliç University academics, in which the company will also be involved.

The project with HEFA Tekstil will highlight the conscious consumption of natural resources

Haliç University Rector Prof. Dr. Zafer Utlu, stating that they attach importance to graduating their students as professionals fully equipped for the business world with the education models they offer, expressed that they have carried out numerous collaborations and agreements with the business and industry world with this mission. Utlu said that the cooperation protocol signed with HEFA Tekstil will be one of the most productive collaborations they have implemented and continued his words as follows:

“It will be an important benefit that internship and job opportunities will arise for our students in the production facilities and corporate structure of HEFA Tekstil within the scope of our cooperation. At the same time, this year, we are developing a project on sustainability and recycling in textile production under the leadership of Haliç University academics, in which HEFA Tekstil will also be involved. I believe that this project will make a significant contribution to the proper consumption of the world’s natural resources and social awareness on this issue.”

HEFA Group CEO Murat Şahinler expressed his pleasure for the cooperation protocol they signed with a well-established and prestigious educational institution such as Haliç University, which has left behind a quarter century in higher education. Şahinler said: “I believe that this cooperation will usher in a stronger period for our group, which has made a significant contribution to the national economy with its production diversity, quality approach and share in textile exports since 1974. I would like to thank all those who contributed, especially Rector Prof. Dr. Zafer Utlu.”

The company, which started its investments in 1974 and continues its investments under the names of HEFA and FAYTEKS, operated as Synthetic Textile Wholesaler for the first 21 years. In 1995, the company started to produce synthetic leather within its own structure and established its second factory in Velimeşe in 2013, serving the textile dyeing sector. The company continues to carry out its production activities in two facilities with a total closed area of 26,000 m² and its sales activities in two stores with a total closed area of 2,000 m².
