It was announced on the EVTEKS Fuarı social media account on September 3, 2021 that the 26th Istanbul International Home Textiles Fair was postponed to May 2022 in order to make the most efficient contribution to the sector. In the statement of the association right after the cancellation decision regarding the fair, which was to be realized by İstanbul Fuarcılık A.Ş. in cooperation with Turkish Home Textile Industrialists and Business (TETSİAD), it was stated that this was a unilateral decision and was not within their knowledge or approval.
After the first announcement, CNR Holding General Manager Alkan Usta said that as İstanbul Fuarcılık A.Ş., they attach great importance to the demands of exhibitors and visitors in every organization and that they carefully evaluate every request. Usta announced that they decided to postpone EVTEKS due to the aggravating pandemic conditions all over the world and especially the fact that the European countries’ put Turkey on the red list.

Alkan Usta stated that this postponement decision was taken in line with the demands of several participants and solution partners abroad, and said; “In addition, the countries participating in the fair such as Germany, Spain, Morocco and Portugal have also decided not to participate for this reason. Besides, China and India, the two most important countries in Asia, also stated that they will not take part in the fair as participants”.
“Our administration will initiate any necessary legal process”
On behalf of the Board of Directors of TETSİAD, President Hasan Hüseyin Bayram reacted to the cancellation decision as follows; “Our fair, which we announced to be held on September, 20-24, 2021, will not be held due to the unilateral postponement of the company that has undertaken to organize the event, even though we have completed our preparations”.
Saying; “We are all well aware of the grievance caused by this wrong decision that the company has taken without the knowledge and approval of our association, to our industry and our country’s economy,” Bayram told that the association administration will initiate any necessary legal process regarding this grievance.
May 2022 will be busy for the home textile industry
While the EVTEKS was postponed to May next year, Hasan Hüseyin Bayram said that they have started preparations for HOMETEX planned to be held in the same period. Bayram shared the following details about the fair; “Our meeting is of great importance for the home textile industry and will now be held under the name of HOMETEX HOME TEXTILE AND ACCESSORIES FAIR, with the organization of TETSİAD and Küresel Fuar Acentesi (KFA Fuarcılık) on May 17-21, 2022 at Istanbul Expo Center, with the strong participation of national and international purchasing delegations. TETSİAD, the umbrella organization of the Turkish home textile industry which is the fourth largest supplier in the world and the largest supplier in Europe, has started preparations for our fair in May with the active participation of industry representatives”.
