At this year’s Techtextil, Erhardt+Leimer (E+L), the German specialist in automation technology with subsidiaries and service stations around the world, will present products for web guiding and spreading, web tension measurement and control and edge trimming. The Erhardt+Leimer stand is in hall 3.0, stand C15.
The SWS 9 segmented roller guider guarantees gentle and precise web guiding and spreading. The system includes the multifunctional wide band sensor FE 45 for edge and centre guiding with width monitoring. This sensor is also available as a stand-alone width monitoring system. Commissioning of the system is possible without any adjustment. The system is available for operating widths of up to 7.60 m.
Also on exhibition is a new pivoting frame for web guiding in narrow-web applications, the DR 23 from the ELGUIDER product family. Commissioning of the new unit couldn’t be easier. The key parameters are already pre-set on delivery, and a commissioning wizard guides the operator step-by-step through the additional input windows that need to be filled in. The unit is operated via a touch display. The installation situation is visualized for the customer on this display in exactly the same way as it presents itself to the operator on the actual machine.
The pivoting frame is also quite a bit more compact than comparable competitor models. Reference runs are no longer required thanks to the integrated absolute value encoder, which also ensures that the current position is saved in the event of a power failure. The new unit also impresses in terms of control dynamics, with a control frequency of up to 8 Hz.
The DR 23 is one of the smallest web guiders in the E+L portfolio; the company offers different versions of pivoting frames for operating widths of up to 14 m.
For web tension measurement E+L offers a broad range of sensors: flange load cells, block load cells and measuring rollers of the ELTENS product family. The sensors are available in aluminum, steel and stainless steel (IP 65).
Erhardt+Leimer : ELTENS DC 62
With the ELTENS DC 62, E+L also presents a product for web tension control. The measuring amplifier and the power output stage are integrated in the controller for direct connection of the brake. The chronological sequence of the actual web tension is graphically displayed on the so-called “tension monitor”, together with the nominal value and the alarm thresholds. A menu-driven setup wizard, combined with a color touch display, supports the operator in commissioning the system.
Another solution presented by E+L will be the PA 62 web tension measuring amplifier. It’s a two-channel measuring amplifier for connecting any load cells; it displays not only the sum signal but also the web tension on the left and right hand side of the web separately. The device can do without any fixed buttons; buttons for operation are displayed on the LCD display only when required. Besides the actual web tension it indicates a trend curve and alerts the operator if limits are exceeded. The inputs and outputs can be configured individually. The device also offers an Ethernet interface for process integration.
And last not least Erhardt+Leimer will showcase their successful ELCUT BTA 80 edge trimmer. Since its launch in 2011, more than 1600 systems have been sold. It is also possible to run the edge trimmers in automatic mode with follow-up control. In this case the accuracy of the sensor used is up to +/- 0.1 mm.
