EFI Reggiani impacts digital textile printing. EFI, one of the leading players in the digital textile printing industry, took part in ITMA 2019 at Hall 3 Booth B204 with their comprehensive solutions and printing ecosystem products. Being one of the few providers offering an end-to-end solution, EFI Reggiani attracted numerous ITMA visitors with ease and piqued interest.

In addition to EFI Reggiani BOLT, also on display was: EFI Reggiani COLORS printer, which provides printing up to 12 colors in a row, EFI Mezzara indigo dyeing and finishing technology, the new EFI Reggiani FUOCO water-based acid dye, the new EFI Fiery® BT-1000 digital front end (DFE), the EFI Optitex® 2D/3D textile CAD software, and the Fiery DesignPro with an Adobe® Creative Cloud® plug-ins package.

EFI Reggiani not only attracted a strong visitor interest, but also achieved significant sales at the tradeshow. Four companies made an investment in the EFI Reggiani BOLT – a printer that was launched in November 2018 and were awarded through a special ceremony during the press conference. EFI Reggiani Innovation Pioneer Awards were awarded to Italy-based Texprint s.r.l, and Pakistan based Hunbul Tex Pvt. Ltd, Firdous Cloth Mill Pvd. Ltd. and Zaman Textile Mills Pvt. Ltd.

EFI Reggiani impacts digital textile printing: EFI Reggiani Bolt: the star of the show

Adele Genoni, Senior Vice President and General Manager of EFI Reggiani, said that the focus of the stand was the 72-inch (1.8m) ultra-high speed single pass digital textile printer EFI Reggaini BOLT. Genoni said that the model, which is a pioneer in high-volume digital textile printing, is an example of innovative the textile supply chain technology development. Genoni; “The BOLT, which we introduced at our Open House in November 2018, is now on display at ITMA for the whole industry to see. It is fast, it is impressive, and as a result, we get a lot of interest and positive feedbacks regarding this machine”. Genoni said that already on the first day of the fair, orders and agreements have taken place.

EFI Reggiani impacts digital textile printing: EFI Reggiani BOLT can print up to 90 linear meters per minute

Genoni underlined that EFI Reggiani BOLT is the first single-pass inkjet printer on the market that can print direct-to-textiles at speeds of up to 90 linear meters per minute. Genoni continued;

“As the fastest inkjet textile printer product at ITMA, the EFI Reggiani BOLT was the star digital solution, featuring an innovative and strong structure, giving users reliable, superior-quality printing for a full range of design needs. I can easily say that BOLT is rewriting the rules of single-pass. It prints at a resolution of 600 x 600 dots per inch (dpi) up to 600 x 4,800 dpi. Users benefit from direct-to-textile imaging with variable drop sizes from 5 to 30 picoliters for accurate, high-end image quality. It is a robust, industrial platform designed for 24/7 operation, with superior printhead life and minimal maintenance needs. Plus, the printer can include one or more analogue printing stations as an option; integrated into the digital printer for special effects”.

EFI Reggiani BOLT has been strengthened in terms of software; Genoni said that this printer includes the new EFI Fiery BT-1000 DFE; a professional colour management and RIP solution. Genoni added; “The Fiery features superior screening and fine dithering algorithms for high-quality print results; with excellent detail reproduction, smooth gradations, clean solid colours, deep blacks, and high saturation. With the speed of the printer and its robust Fiery DFE; users can stream jobs to production in real time, reducing the cost per meter of digitally printed textiles; while creating a broader range of designs quickly and efficiently”.

Everything at the EFI booth for a complete textile ecosystem

The EFI Reggiani booth hosted in addition several different solutions. EFI Reggiani COLORS caters to textile industry with different needs. Genoni explained; “Able to print up to 12 colours, COLORS has been developed for high quality and superior productivity”.

Genoni briefly explained the other solutions on display at the booth; “Sustainable production is a big topic in the textile industry; and EFI Reggiani has always had a focus on ensuring that our solutions are eco-friendly. In addition to our water-based EFI Reggiani inks; EFI Mezzera indigo and dyeing technologies provide deeper shades and superior fastness, while reducing chemical usage by up to 40%”.

EFI Fiery DesignPro software streamlines design of textile repeats, colourways, woven and knits. And the EFI Optitex 2D/3D textile CAD software offers streamlined Print & Cut workflow integration with Reggiani printers for up to 15% greater efficiency in textile usage.

“BDR strengthened our product range”

Genoni said EFI expanded its digital reactive ink portfolio by acquiring BDR Boya Kimya in Bursa, Turkey in May 2019. Adele Genoni explained that this acquisition benefits EFI Reggiani as now the company has better proximity to the local textile markets; allowing for faster supply reactions and better collaboration.
