Stating that professionals should think quality-oriented throughout the whole process from investment to production, Serkan Çağlıyan expressed that the loser in the price competition is ultimately the one who does this.

Digital printing technologies continues to grow with market’s demand for manufacturing  diversity, expectation for high speed, spreading environmental and healt criteria as well as high quality expectation towards end products. The developments occuring in decades now decreasedto under five years. New machineries and upgrades get into our lives every year. Printing machines including a very intense R&D work and technology from machine body to print heads, inks to software, take place in the market as a commercial good. In the market where tempting price campaigns occur, preferring the ‘cheapest’ one instead of the ‘right’ one for you can cause costly results.

Saying that the investment cost is a much-debated issue in digital printing sector, Pigment Reklam company owner Serkan Çağlıyan continued thusly; “It is highly risky to make an investment by just looking at the price tag on digital printing machines carrying a very intense technological background and work. There are carnivorous plants raising in tropical climates. These have a very colorful sight and pleasant smell. Thereby, they attract bees, butterflies and bugs to themselves. However, there is no whay back when they caught their victims with deceptive smell. Price competition attracts those who are looking for cheap investments; just like the pleasant smell of these plants and the result always very costly for the company. ”

Expressing that it is necessary to evaluate the potential printing process and applications making and to be made very well; Çağlıyan explained that the cost of machinery sets forth; while operating and technical service to be given are more important criteria than the price tag. Çağlıyan stated; “It can mean to sign an invesrment that can make a loss by looking at just the price; without considering the media diversity where the printing will be made; ink types to be used, curing cost, waste rate in the production, energy-ink and chemical use; and the power in all prints from draft to fine art mode and even the easy-use of operators. ”

Print Sector Must Expand Its Competition Frame

Saying that thousands of players take place in Turkish print sector from entry level to industrial size; Çağlıyan reminded that Turkish print sector gained growth in double-digits even in crisis terms. Emphasizing that Turkish printers now manufacture not only for Turkey but also for nearby regions and even for export markets; Çağlıyan stated that print professionals continue to grow with new investments and they observed that one to one at the fairs they joined. Çağlıyan continued thusly;

“Exterior applications, on-wall advertising, signage, board, textile signage, vehicle coating, glass applications, interior regulationsand many popular application areas offer new opportunities to digital printers. These markets bring a serious competition in the market.  The competition resulted from increasing firm numbers unfortunately is approached with lower price instead of quality. Even though the prices went down the limit necessary for a sustainable work; bring increasing sales in short term, at the end they will cause damage for the producer. As a matter of fact; this situation can affect the whole market negatively and a destructive price wave can afflict the market. We had seen that before. In order to prevent this; a very well evaluated business management from investment to delivery process, should take place. We must expand our competitive frame. We should make quality sell itself not the price. ”
