Bursa Technology Coordination and R&D Centre (BUTEKOM), which expands its testing and analysis infrastructure at the point of qualified transformation of sectors in Bursa, provides companies with testing and analysis in the production of masks, gowns and overalls during the Covid-19 outbreak. Export companies gain an important advantage in export with these fast and reliable test and analysis results obtained from BUTEKOM accredited laboratories.
BTSO Chairman Ibrahim Burkay, said that the production capacity of the mask and medical textile materials increased along with the coronavirus outbreak in Turkey, and continued saying that the test and analysis laboratories in BUTEKOM fulfilled a great need in this process. Stating that several companies in Bursa benefited from the services of BUTEKOM in this process, President Burkay said; “Our companies are making efforts for production and export in this period when the need for masks has reached very important levels. BUTEKOM, where we realize important investments as the business world of Bursa, continues to meet the demands of Bursa companies at the highest level with its test and laboratory services”.
Altunsu Tekstil provided the solution from BUTEKOM
Altunsu Tekstil, based in Bursa, has started R&D work for mask production as of February. Hasan Altunsu, Chairman of the Company’s Board of Directors; said that the test and analysis laboratory owned by BUTEKOM provided them with great convenience in this process. Explaining that they produce antimicrobial yarn and fabric as a result of their work, Altunsu continued his words as follows; “With the contributions of BTSO and BUTEKOM; we have been involved in intensive studies to quickly bring our fabric to the mask stage with special weaving techniques. We have brought this most effective and useful mask product to the final stage in a period of about 1 month. Without BUTEKOM, we would not have come to this point. Fortunately there is BUTEKOM”.
Hasan Altunsu, said that the reusable anti-microbial protective mask produced with Silver Ion technology is a first in Turkey. Saying that the mask has a bacterial filtering efficiency of 98.8% for maximum protection and complies with the European Standard EN 14683: 2019; Altınsu noted that they aim to export 150 million masks by the end of the year. Altunsu Tekstil has a daily production capacity of 1 million masks.
Luno Tekstil: BUTEKOM’s tests provide confidence
Operating in Bursa DOSAB, Luno Tekstil started to receive surgical mask, overalls and protective mask requests; from foreign companies with the onset of the outbreak. Levent Tümer, the Chairman of the company, said: “We manufacture cloth masks from scuba neoprene polyester elastane fabrics. Its cut is ergonomic and it increases the comfort by covering our face, especially the nose and chin area. It is also important to have anti-bacterial, water-repellent, cooling properties on it. We conducted air permeability and anti-microbial cleaning tests of our product at BUTEKOM. As BUTEKOM is accredited in certain tests all over the world, it has provided a great advantage for us”. Tümer emphasized that the tests carried out at BUTEKOM also gave customers confidence. Luno Tekstil produces 250 thousand cloth masks daily.
