Eastman, the manufacturer of sustainably sourced Naia cellulosic filament yarn, announces the expansion of its Naia fibre portfolio at Premiรจre Vision-Paris (PV), the international fashion and textile exhibition, February 11-13. With the introduction of its new cellulosic staple fibre, Naia offers another versatile eco-conscious material choice for sustainable fashion.
Ruth Farrell, global marketing director of textiles for Eastman said that they are thrilled to expand their product offerings, and they have been working with a strong network of innovative spinner partners around the world to introduce their new Naia cellulosic staple fibre. Farrell continued saying;

It has inherent softness, is quick drying and reduces pilling. It blends well with other eco-friendly materials, such as lyocell, modal and recycled polyesterโto produce sustainable fabrics and garments that are ideal for everyday wearโ.
Turkish manufacturer Karacasu Tekstil took place in the process
Eastman worked with major textile manufacturers from several countries to create the Naia staple fibre. These include Karacasu Tekstil in Turkey, Shandong Long Run Textile and Dezhou Huayuan Eco-Technology on Mainland China, Pratibha Syntex and RSWM Ltd. in India and Linz Textil in Austria. These industry-leading spinners blend the staple fibre with other fibres to meet the needs of manufacturers worldwide.
Naia responds to the sustainability demand
Naia is responsibly sourced from sustainably managed pine and eucalyptus forests and plantations. Eastman has aligned its entire forestry supply chain with Forest Stewardship Councilยฎ sourcing standards, including controlled wood procedures. Eastman and its wood pulp suppliers hold FSCยฎ (C140711) and/or PEFCโข Chain of Custody certifications. Furthermore, Eastman has partnered with Canopy to demonstrate its ongoing commitment to sustainable forestry management. The recently released 2019 Hot Button Ranking and Report shows Eastmanโs commitment to sustainable forestry management, as the company has been reported to have zero risk of sourcing from ancient and endangered forests.
Produced in a safe, closed-loop process where solvents are recycled back into the system for reuse; Naia is made through optimized, low-impact manufacturing. The fibre has a low tree-to-fibre environmental footprint and a third-party-reviewed life-cycle assessment compliant with ISO 14044. It is also certified as biodegradable in freshwater and soil environments and is compostable in industrial settings; having received the โOK biodegradableโ and โOK compostโ conformity marks from TรV AUSTRIA. Most recently, Naia staple fiber received the โOK compostโ certification for home settings.
Eastman will be with Naia fibre at Booth 6D55 in the Premiรจre Vision Yarns Hall. It will also be exhibited in the Smart Creation area, Stand 3S42 in Hall 3.
