Legrand has invested 5.5 million euros in Turkey

Developing products and systems for building, electrical and digital infrastructures, France-based Legrand Group has signed a significant investment in Turkey. The new factory of Inform, which is part of the group, was launched with a budget of 5.5 million euros.

The factory opened in Kocaeli, Gebze and is equipped with the latest technology. Located in an area of 28.500 m2, of which 28 thousand m2 is closed, the Inform factory is distinguished from its competitors with the feature of being the only company in the UPS sector that has all its production processes in-house. The factory, which has an R&D and Customer Service Center as well as wrapped elements, electronic card typesetting facility isolated from external factors, mechanical production workshop and assembly lines, is managed by a professional team of 300 people.

The new factory of Inform was built with the Industry 4.0 approach and equipped with environmentally friendly and low energy consumption equipment. Offering sustainable solutions with high-efficiency transformers, LED lights, motion and presence sensors, Inform’s new factory stands out with its power analysers that can monitor consumption and take action in each distribution board and roof design that enables daylight usage.

Xerri: it is exciting for us to make the investment a reality

Legrand Group Vice President Responsible for the European Region, Frederic Xerri commented about the investment and made a market assessment about Turkey. Xerri said that the economy fluctuated together with the devaluation of the Turkish lira that occurred in August 2018, but in exactly the same time Legrand Group made the new investment decisions in Turkey. Xerri; โ€œThe Legrand Group CEO Benoit Coquart announced his decision of 5.5 million euro investment during his visit to Turkey, in the days of the most intense economic fluctuation. We are proud to see that this investment has become a reality today. Legrand Group relies on the manpower and creativity in Turkey, and to the support we are providing to the group. Turkey has an important position for the groupโ€.

Frederic Xerri stated that they achieved both capacity and quality increase with the new factory. Noting that the production processes are structured within the framework of Industry 4.0, Xerri continued his words as follows; โ€œSo we know that we will achieve sustainable quality and efficiency. We foresee that the expected business results would bring more business opportunities in Legrand Turkeyโ€.

In 2018, Legrand grew by 40% in Turkey

Informing that Legrand Group grew by 8.6% in the global market in 2018, Xerri stressed that growth in Turkey occurred by 40% during the same period. Xerri; โ€œIn 2019, we grew double-digit in Turkey. Commenting about 2022 is very difficult when we look at the developments in the world and Turkey. However, Legrand Group believes in the Turkish labour and Turkeyโ€.

Saying that they will focus on the Internet of Things, Xerri continued his words as follows; โ€œIn 2019, we generated a turnover of 450 million euros from the internet of things. We aim to increase this to 1 billion euros in 2020. Remote maintenance and repair of large objects will be possible with the Internet of Thingsโ€.

The Legrand Turkey Country Manager Levent Ilgฤฑn said that they have tripled their square meter on a factory area level in the last two years. Ilgฤฑn stated that the machinery park has gone fully automated and doubled its production capacity.
