Saurer Introduces Their First Air-Spinning Technology Autoairo – Simona Gambini

Saurer introduces their first air-spinning technology Autoairo. Providing solutions for the textile industry for more than 150 years, Saurer introduced their digital and Industry 4.0-focused innovations at ITMA 2019 in Barcelona. The company’s renowned E3 (energy, economics and ergonomics) concept has expanded its scope with new digital capabilities. The giant ‘Create’ sign at the entrance of the Saurer booth in Hall 6 informed visitors what to expect. All spinning and embroidery solutions exhibited at the booth provide textile manufacturers with smarter, ergonomic and advanced technologies for efficient, value-added and environmentally friendly production.

Simona Gambini, Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications at Saurer, disclosed that the exhibition was very successful and Saurer had sold several machines. Speaking to Textilegence, Gambini emphasized that the air-spinning machine Autoairo, which was introduced for the first time, was the center of attention for the visitors. Autoairo combines the advantages of air spinning with advanced automation technologies.

She continued as follows: “Everyone wants to see innovation at ITMA. As a single-source solution provider, from bale to final bobbin, Saurer has innovation in every field you can think of. Therefore, our motto was ‘Create’. With the innovations we made since our inception, Saurer has been the driving force behind our customers’ creations – from yarns to garments, tires or artificial turf. Throughout the exhibition, we have tried to prove that all these innovations are solutions that truly add value to our customers’ businesses. The visitors examined the different yarns we produced on Autoairo. We were pleased with the results we obtained.”

Saurer introduces their first air-spinning technology Autoairo: Intelligent air-spinning technology Autoairo found its first home

Gambini stated that the first Autoairo air-spinning machine, launched at ITMA 2019, was already sold to the innovative Mexican company Zagis during the exhibition.

Pointing out to the excitement Autoairo generated amongst ITMA visitors, Gambini continued: “Because this new machine defines new criteria in efficiency, competence and especially in automation for the high-yield air spinning market. Based on 40 years of experience in rotor spinning and 70 years’ experience in ring spinning, we used this knowledge to develop our air-spinning machine. With 168 spindles, we offer greater productivity and efficiency. The Autoairo has autonomous spinning positions with individual drives, integrated intelligence and a digital piecing unit.”

Saurer introduces their first air-spinning technology Autoairo: small, fast and efficient

Autoairo can carry out 24 piecing operations simultaneously with SynchroPiecing 24. Compared to other machines on the market, the piecing capacity of the Autoairo is roughly twice as high. The Autoairo requires 40% less space than air-spinning machines with a one-sided design. This means that spinning mills’ floor area can be smaller, which reduces construction and air conditioning costs. In this way, the return on investment is higher.

With MultiLot, up to four lots can be spun at the same time. In addition, seamless lot changes during ongoing production are possible. With PilotSpin, test packages can be manufactured while the other spinning positions simply continue with normal production. LED strips at each spinning position signal, among other things, that cans need to be replaced soon. This ensures rapid intervention by personnel without the need for cumbersome tours of inspection.

Turkey is a target market for Autoairo thanks to decades of experience in ring and rotor spinning

Referring to the target markets for their new air-spinning technology Autoairo, Simona Gambini drew attention to the Turkish market. Pointing out that the country’s textile industry is an innovative market that welcomes new technological developments; “This open mindedness is an advantageous characteristic and helps the industry to stay competitive.”

Innovations for superior sliver and embroidery quality

Several different innovations were presented to visitors at the ITMA Saurer booth. Aiming to ensure the best sliver quality for the five end-spinning processes, Saurer further expanded their product portfolio with the addition of the new Autocard and the draw frame Autodraw. Both the semi- and fully automatic versions of the BD rotor-spinning machine were showcased on the stand.

Saurer also demonstrated integrated automation technologies on embroidery machines. The new automatic rear carriage adjustment helps in reducing the machine setting time; while the intelligent thread watcher SmartMon drives the precise and fast detection of yarn breaks, on both shuttle and needle side; which drastically lowers mending costs.
