The Dornbirn Global Fiber Congress (DORNBIRN-GFC), which is one of the events that the textile industry follows with great interest every year, will be held in Austria between September 11th and 13th with its 58th edition. The congress will house important presentations on fiber innovations and promises much more with its expanding content. Sustainability, circular economy and digitalization will be the main ideas of the event.
More than 100 international textile experts will present their latest innovations of the textile industry. The main topics will be as follows: Fiber innovations, Circular Economy and Sustainability, Digitalization and Smart Textiles, Surface modification and Additives, Sports and leisure wear, Nonwovens and Technical Textiles.
Due to the undeniable climate change and the eco-social imbalances across the globe, sustainable resource management has become a key element for future. DORNBIRN-GFC does not remain indifferent to the issue and will present a sustainability and circular economy platform. The internationally renowned marine research centre “Scripps Institution of Oceanography” in California will present new research results and solutions about “micro-plastics”. Another title for the industry will be “Digital Footprint” or the “Life Cycle Analysis”. Microsoft Director Robert Rosellen will explain the transition of digitalization from the software industry to the textile industry.
Network with STARTUP DAYS at Dornbirn-GFC
The first Dornbirn-GFC STARTUP DAYS take place on September 11 – 12, in cooperation with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). They will provide a network platform for newly established businesses that face different challenges compared to established/corporate firms. Efficiency will contribute to the link between innovative ideas and technologies and their introduction to the market.
Startup companies will take part in the congress with presentations on the following topics; smart fibers, smart applications, smart SportsTech & Outdoor, smart sustainable & cyclic economy. Dornbirn-GFC 2019 participants will be welcomed with innovative ideas and visions at the Startup Tent in the congress area.
On the opening day of the event; leading names and executives of the sector will give speeches and make presentations to draw a vision for the future in sustainability. Speakers Necat Altın, CEO of CIRFS, Uday Gill, CEO of Indorama Ventures, and Rober van de Kerkhof, Lenzing CCO; each will approach sustainability in their respective fields. Sustainability and the cyclic economy will be the subject of the CEO Panel which will be held later.
