Nearly 200 businessmen from 23 countries arrived Bursa for new business connections as a part of the Bursa Development of International Competitiveness (UR-GE) program for textiles under the leadership of Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) and support of Ministry of Economy. More than 50 textile companies based in Bursa exhibited their new collections at their booths and held B2B meetings during the event on September 27-30 at Grand Swiss-Çelik Palas Hotel.
The organization aimed for increased competitive power of industry players and grabbed interest from purchasing committees from Russia, Morocco, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Iran and South Africa. Mr. İbrahim Burkay, President of the Board of Directors of BTSO made important statements. The steps in economy as well as reform packages from the government following the July 15th cruel coup attempt had a positive impact on markets, he said. Turkey has always been a reliable port for foreign investors, while UR-GE Project aims to reinforce textile exports and competition of Bursa’s textile industry as it is Turkey’s manufacturing hub.
Underlining that purchasing committee events highly contribute to both the industry and city economy, Burkay continues, “Our companies have the opportunity to display their latest collections within their product ranges for foreign purchasers thanks to UR-GE supports. Such events are crucial for Bursa business world. We have brought approximately 7000 purchasers to Bursa as part of Trade Safari Project which was designed to gather foreign investors with companies of Bursa. We are hosting leading committees particularly from Russia and Iran during this organization. Increased competitive power in Bursa is also important in terms of our national goals’ achievement.”
Purchasing committees were brought to manufacturers
Among participants of the event, businessman Orhan Aygün reported that they held meetings with nearly 40 foreign companies on the first day. “We continue to enjoy firsts thanks to BTSO. They signed such an outstanding organization. We met businessmen beyond our expectations. It is not easy to have access to purchasers from 22 countries and get visas. BTSO brought them directly to our doors.”
BTSO had also organized a purchaser committee event for the industry of baby and kid apparels on May 31-June 2 hits year.
